WHERE

Harmony Dawn Retreat Center
800 Baxter Road, RR#1
Hastings, Ontario
K0L 1Y0

Harmony Dawn (Ontario) Retreat is located 25 minutes north of Cobourg and situated on the shores of beautiful Rice Lake in Northumberland County. It is approximately 1 ½ hours from Toronto in good traffic.

The centre is easily accessible from Hwy 401 east of Toronto. Please follow their  directions . It is not recommended to use your GPS system, as people routinely get lost that way. If you have any questions please contact the center directly.

The Retreat Center

The building, completed in 2003, was custom designed as a green retreat centre, using most of the sustainable energy technologies available. It was voted one of the greenest buildings in Canada. It also incorporates Andy’s and Nicola’s Feng-shui and Yin-Yang knowledge, which endows the building and its surroundings with a harmonious, safe, cozy, in-nature feeling, commonly noted by our guests. It is nestled into a hill top overlooking Rice Lake, surrounded by 50 acres of rolling meadows and healing forest, which lead to the swimming-friendly lake.

The Studio, is bermed into the top of the hill, while the front offers sunny, expansive views of rolling hills through our 10-foot, floor-to-ceiling, high-tech windows. You feel as if you are sitting out in a high, open meadow and indeed foxes, turkeys and deer occasionally walk by. Berming is the technique of totally or partially covering a building in earth to take advantage of the temperature of the earth, 55 F or 13 C., through all seasons. Our studio also has radiant-heated floors, which can adjust to the required room temperature. There is a living “green roof” over the studio.

The Accommodations: The central pod houses the living room, bedrooms and washrooms and is also partially bermed. The ground and second floors have 10 foot ceilings and the loft ceiling is even higher. All floors boast large windows; all washrooms have heated floors. There are radiators on the second and third floors and in the living room, there is a wood-burning, glass-windowed masonry fireplace, which heats all three floors and provides a warm and cozy winter ambience, very popular with our guests.

The Property: One of the most precious facilities isn’t actually a facility, but the land - Nature itself. The unique 50 acres of rolling meadows and forests are beautiful, organic, tranquil and healing. They buffer the retreat center from the everyday world of noise, pollution, traffic, stress and close neighbours. The building is a sheltered half kilometer away from a quiet country road. Arborists, biologists, and historians have informed us that the air is clean and highly oxygenated; the forest trees are varied, healthy, healing and medicinal.

The Meals: Nicola has had a life-long passion for food and cooking going back to her childhood. She has worked in the food industry, had her own catering company and now has found the perfect outlet for her food passion and knowledge as Chef of Harmony Dawn. Her cuisine encompasses international cooking from across the planet as well as specialty diets including lacto-vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, macrobiotic and more. She is a passionate advocate for fresh, local and organic food whenever possible. At HD, they grow a selected variety of organic herbs and vegetables and have access to a wider variety within the local organic farming community.

INVESTMENT

The retreat requires two payments:

  • First Payment: $215 + HST (Retreat Fee - this fee is payable to KIND Yoga; click the Register button below)

  • Second Payment: $310 +HST (Accommodation & Food Fee - this fee is payable directly to the Harmony Dawn Retreat Centre; see the payment instructions here)

About the Instructor

ELLEN REESOR

Ellen’s first yoga class was at age 14, and though it was tough, she quickly fell in love with the way yoga made her feel. Though memberships were out of her price range at the time, she was determined to grow her yoga practice, so she volunteered through energy exchange programs, practicing in the evenings and cleaning the studio after classes.

As she broadened her practice, she completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Hatha yoga, and later went on to complete a 500-hour Modo YTT as well as a 100-hour Modo Yoga Vinyasa Flow training. In 2018, Ellen completed a 10 month Teacher Training/Mentorship Program through Spirit Loft Movement Centre, which focused on an interdisciplinary approach to movement & mindfulness education. Ellen completed a 10 Day silent Vipassana Meditation Course and is currently enrolled in a 9 month meditation course studying under Poep Sa Frank Jude focusing on the five precepts. Ellen spends her winters rock climbing, mountaineering, and studying - working towards her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She considers herself an eternal student and is constantly attending workshops and trainings to learn and grow.

Over the years, yoga has deeply enriched her life mentally, physically and spiritually, and she continues to find fulfillment in helping others to tap into the same joy that yoga has brought her.

6 Week Challenge 2022

to Feb 21

6 Week Challenge 2022

Do you desire to stay focused on the present, stay strong in your self-worth, feel like you have a purpose, maintain balance in life, deeply trust yourself, and create space for deeper connection?

KIND Yoga invites you to embark on our Annual 6 Week Challenge!

Our 6 week challenge is a breath of fresh air designed to help students get aligned and grounded in their truest priorities, reminding them of all the small things in life that lead them towards a more joy-filled and wholehearted life. This 2022, let's leave behind the shame that comes alongside failed New Year's Resolutions, and instead take a kinder approach to a beautiful beginning by intentionally moving away from the things and people and opinions that aren't serving us, and freeing up more time and energy for all that does!

This challenge will be your gentle yet steady reminder to simplify your life by quieting the noise of the neverending task lists and notifications, to create space for the people and small things in everyday life that truly matter. If we don't get clear on what we truly want, we can be certain everyone else will make that decision for us. Living a more connected, passionate, and wholehearted life requires being intentional about slowing down and stepping out of our fast paced, automatic, mindless motions that are keeping us stuck on the wheel, and inviting more space for what we want and need.

Through yoga, weekly meditations, accountability, community events, group outdoor fun, and more, we'll work towards a more whole hearted, joy-filled 2022 together!

WHEN?

January 10th to February 21st, 2022

WHO?

This is a challenge for the whole community, including our teachers!

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

Our 6 week Challenge will kick off with a 90 minute workshop curated to help you get clear on the things and people that make you feel more jubilant and whole as a person. Together you will get clear on your vision and intentions for the new year and create an action plan that will help you lighten your plate, in order to make room for the small, everyday things that bring you peace.

  • Resources and techniques for staying grounded and centered in what truly brings you peace and joy

  • Accountability! Emails and a Facebook Group & friends to connect and get outside/walk/go to yoga with

  • Weekly fun community events! Last year we had the applauded Hannah Sunderani of @twospoons cookbook deliver a cooking class! We also featured a cocktail class with Winnipeg’s famous Elsa Clare, owner of The Roost, and other fun guests

  • A grand prize and drip prizes along the way to keep you encouraged

The Retreat Center

Our building, completed in 2003, was custom designed as a green retreat centre, using most of the sustainable energy technologies available.

Our Studio, is bermed into the top of the hill, while the front offers sunny, expansive views of rolling hills through our 10-foot, floor-to-ceiling, high-tech windows.

Our Accommodations: Our central pod houses our living room, bedrooms and washrooms and is also partially bermed. The ground and second floors have 10 foot ceilings and our loft ceiling is even higher. All floors boast large windows; all washrooms have heated floors. There are radiators on the second and third floors and in the living room, there is a wood-burning, glass-windowed masonry fireplace, which heats all three floors and provides a warm and cozy winter ambience, very popular with our guests.

The Property: One of our most precious facilities isn’t actually a facility, but our land - Nature itself. Our unique 50 acres of rolling meadows and forests are beautiful, organic, tranquil and healing. They buffer us from the everyday world of noise, pollution, traffic, stress and close neighbours. Our building is a sheltered half kilometer away from a quiet country road. Arborists, biologists, and historians have informed us that our air is clean and highly oxygenated; our forest trees are varied, healthy, healing and medicinal.

Meals: Nicola has had a life-long passion for food and cooking going back to her childhood. At HD we grow a selected variety of organic herbs and vegetables and have access to a wider variety within the local organic farming community.

We hope you will join us!

NOTE: We have opened a few more spots!

Keep your eyes open for a second date coming in the new year. Subscribe to our newsletter to be updated when the next retreat date is released.

Cancellation Policy

If for any reason you are unable to attend our retreat, a full refund is available until November 1st. After November 1st, half refund will be given until November 10th.

Breathe Here Now: A Breathwork Journey Home + Inner Exploration

KINDYoga-BreathworkWorkshop-V1_SocialGraphic.png

Come together in breath, being, and community in the greenhouse. Together, we will experience the powerful medicine of our own breath, dive into deeper dimensions of self as we surrender into the body, and allow the breath to guide us towards a state of inner harmony.

'Breathe Here Now' is a unique breathwork experience that invites inner explorers into the ever sacred present moment. The breath is a transformative modality that contains medicine designed specifically for you that gets beneath the surface of the mind and into the infinite intelligence of the body.

This is a powerful breath that can immediately shift you into a state of well-being, while enhancing clarity, creativity, and problem-solving ability not available in the ordinary waking state. This journey into self is activated through the 3-stage active breath and is blended with movement, evocative music, and sacred sounds. Throughout the journey, you will be fully supported to cultivate a deeper relationship with yourself and let go of old patterns, beliefs, and fears blocking you from your highest expression. We will use transformative breathing techniques, sounding exercises, and physical movement to move energy through the body and clear the system of any stagnant energy. After 25-30 minutes of active breathing, you will be led into a state of surrender, stillness, and allowing. In this space of clarity, this is where breakthroughs + insights + wisdom from our higher selves can emerge.

Katie's intention in every journey she guides is to create a safe and powerful space for breathers to experience themselves on a deeper level.

This two-part experience takes place on:

Thursday September 23, 2021

BIOS

Ellen Reesor

FOUNDER OF KIND

Ellen first found yoga at the age of 14 and quickly fell in love with the way it made her feel. After countless hours of practice she went on to complete a 200-hour YTT in Hatha yoga and a 500 hour Moksha Yoga teacher training as well as a 100 hour Moksha Yoga Flow training. Ellen most recently participated in 10 month Embodied Arts and movement Teacher Training and Mentorship Program through Spirit Loft Movement and Yoga Centre downtown.

Though Ellen was very appreciative of her past experience in yoga she believed there was a major component missing in the yoga industry which lead her to establish the first nature based yoga facility in the GTA on her families’ farm that was based on her belief that practicing mindfulness and yoga in nature has a synergistic effect on our mental, spiritual and physical health. The power of both nature and yoga together is greater than the sum of each individually. Over the years, yoga and nature has deeply enriched her life and she continues to find fulfillment in helping others to find the same joy that it has brought her.
